Surprisingly relaxing may not come naturally. Whenever our sensory systems are activated all that information filters through past experiences. Good or bad. However, that interpretation process goes below our radar and it is not until we feel bad that we realize that something is going on. Feeling bad in our emotions, in our thoughts, or physically.

The information also doesn’t have to be particularly threatening to activate that system. What it does mean is that in an information-overload-world we need to be intentional about relaxing. Recognizing when we aren’t and then taking immediate action. Our mind can often make us believe that we are in a difficult situation because of thoughts that go too far into the future or too far into the past. The solution? Stay in the ‘now’. Today.
